The study will consist of an assessment of existing and future conditions within the I-90/94 and I-290 interchange study area, an analysis of alternatives, and refinement of the selected preferred alternative.
The purpose of the Public Meeting was to seek public input on conceptual alternatives, and the transportation issues, concerns and needs within the study area. The public meeting was held on Thursday, August 30, 2012, at the Marriott Chicago at Medical District/UIC, 625 South Ashland Avenue, Chicago, IL 60607. The meeting was conducted in an open house format, and interested persons were able to visit anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
IDOT provided information regarding the study schedule and process, as well as public involvement opportunities. Attendees had the opportunity to view an audio-visual presentation, review exhibits, view and provide thoughts on initial alternatives, and meet with IDOT and study team representatives.

The preferred alternative was selected based on its ability to address the project's Purpose and Need, a transportation performance evaluation, constructability, and stakeholder involvement. The public will have the opportunity to review the preferred alternative and provide their comments. In addition, noise abatement measures are being investigated for potential installation. View points of benefited receptors are being solicited as part of the proposed improvement. The Department will consider this input as the planning process moves forward.
The Public Hearing will be conducted in an open house format, and interested persons may visit anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to view an audiovisual presentation, review exhibits and provide comments on the preferred alternative including aesthetic enhancements to the Circle Interchange itself and the surrounding city streets. Attendees may also examine results of technical studies, and meet with the Department and study team representatives on a one-on-one basis.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) hosted a second meeting with the Circle Interchange Project Working Group (PWG) to review the key issues identified at Public Meeting #1 and current findings of the alternatives development process. Thus far, potential alternatives have beenThe Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) hosted a second meeting with the Circle Interchange Project Working Group (PWG) to review the key issues identified at Public Meeting #1 and current findings of the alternatives development process. Thus far, potential alternatives have been screened based on a fatal flaw analysis; their ability to meet the Purpose and Need; and, a performance analysis. At PWG Meeting #2, seven alternatives were identified to undergo further evaluation in the alternatives development process.
The PWG provides technical and community level input for every aspect of the Circle Interchange project. The PWG consists of IDOT staff, governmental bodies, transportation agencies, study area municipal leaders, interested groups or organizations, representatives from City of Chicago, and the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning. The PWG is anticipated to meet approximately four times throughout Phase I of the Project, and the general public is welcome to attend and observe these meetings.
